Overview
Spanning 14,750 km² in Tanzania, the Serengeti is Africa’s most iconic savanna, renowned for the Great Migration, 2 million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle thundering across its plains in a timeless cycle. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1981, it boasts the densest predator population on Earth, including lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Explore the Seronera Valley (year-round wildlife hub), Moru Kopjes (ancient granite outcrops), and the crocodile-rich Grumeti River. Witness calving season (Feb) in the southern plains or dramatic Mara River crossings (Jul–Oct). Home to the Maasai people and dotted with luxury lodges like Four Seasons Safari Lodge, the Serengeti’s endless horizons and raw wild beauty redefine the essence of safari.
